Welcome to Havant Little Dolphins,
players in this age group are welcome to join when they
start school (Year R/F). At the age of 6 they will enter the
Under 7's age group, on the pitch next to us and be able to play
in matches against other clubs.
Our idea is for the younger children
to be able to get a taste of what they will be doing next whilst
having fun, if they turn 6 before the end of the season, they
will be able to see that they have the basics and are acquainted
with the coaches, which will ease the move to the U7 and more
focused coaching.
Our
aims in the little Dolphins:
-
We introduce boys and girls to the game of rugby
and teach basic disciplines.
-
Learn the skills to be able to play tag rugby by
the end of the season. (The Little Dolphins do not play in
festivals or matches)
-
Play lots of fun games
-
Teach the children how to take part in a fun and
exciting way and encourage good sportsmanship.
-
Include all abilities and encourage each other.
-
We work towards the Rugby For All motto.
-
Have Fun, Fun, Fun

We play/ train every Sunday, training sessions start at 10.00am
and we advise turning up about 9.45am ready for the warm up. Any
child wishing to have a go is encouraged to come along and see
if they like it, there is a £5 fee this covers 5 sessions giving
children time to decide if they wish to continue so no pressure
to join from the first session.
Our normal training involves a warm up, various practice drills
to improve key skills and of course some fun games as well as
tag games.
What to Wear
Being warm and comfortable is obviously most important; children
need to come dressed for all weather. As the weather gets colder
we advise that children wear layers of T-shirts or skins under
rugby top or fleece, tracksuit bottoms, woolly hat and gloves,
rugby/football boots or trainers. Please also bring a water
bottle. Parents need to wrap up warm too and whilst we can offer
warm refreshments from the club house at very reasonable prices,
please ensure you are dressed for the weather as we require our
parents to stay at pitch side and support their child!.
Training will still take place if it is windy, cold or light
rain, we just gauge how the children are enjoying the session
(the wetter and muddier generally creates more enjoyment!) and
adjust the length of session accordingly. It is only when the
pitches are absolutely waterlogged, frozen; or if it is raining
heavily when coaching is cancelled – if you think this may be
the case, please watch the website in the early morning for
notices, we also try to communicate cancellations by email or by
text so having contact details is an advantage.
Parents/guardians are always expected to stay pitch side unless
they have agreed with someone else to take full responsibility
for their child.
Social Facilities, Food and Drink
Rugby is about having fun on and off the pitch. The club
organizes social functions, which parents are encouraged to join
in Social events are also organized within our age group (see
social events drop down on main page).
Finally our age group had a great season last year, our coaches
have worked so very hard to ensure that every child has enjoyed
every session .Please do not hesitate to contact me with any
questions and please do come along and join in
